After his heroic battle against the Deathlords on the Ghost Planet, Jack Finnegan is looking forward to arriving at Omnicron Prime, the capitol planet of the Galactic Regalus Empire -the largest and most advanced civilization in the universe.

Things are looking bright for Jack. He has his unconventional group of friends, his mystical spaceship, and the girl of his dreams -Princess Anna. Not to mention a secret mission that could save Earth and everyone he cares about.

But things get complicated when he arrives at Omnicron. Not only is Jack uncomfortable being thrust into the spotlight for his courageous actions to save the universe, but he soon finds life in the Empire isn't everything he'd dreamed it would be.

His friends abandon him to pursue their own interests. Greedy and cunning politicians conspire to steal his spaceship. Even his relationship with Anna is strained now that she's gone from being "the girl next door" to the most powerful woman in the universe.

But beneath all that lies a new and terrifying threat from the Deathlords. A threat that grows in secret, slowly spreading throughout the Regalus Empire like a plague, and it threatens to destroy from within the only thing powerful enough to stop the Deathlords and their malicious rampage throughout the galaxy -the Empire itself.

Worst of all -Jack is the only one who knows about this new threat, and no one will believe his warnings.

Suddenly, the Empire is no longer safe for Jack and his friends. Even the people they've come to rely on the most can no longer be trusted. As those he's sworn to protect turn against him, how can Jack hope to save the day?

Fighting the Deathlords was one thing. Fighting the "good guys" is quite another. Will Jack be able to find the strength to be the hero the universe needs?

Or will he finally be defeated by this Secret Army?

Guest Post – The Top 5 Ways You Know You’re A YA Fan

Let’s face it. Young Adult fiction can be like a drug. At first, you think its innocent enough. Then, the cravings begin. Soon, you’re mainlining at Barnes and Noble, tearing through the YA shelves like they’re going out of style. How do you know if you’ve taken your love of all things YA too far? Here are some of the most common signs that you’re a Young Adult superfan…

#5: You find excuses to read YA fiction as opposed to dealing with real life. If you’re making up exotic illnesses or looking for some type of natural disaster to strike so you have an excuse to get out of work/school/life commitments in lieu of finishing that YA novel you just can’t put down… you might be a YA fan.

#4: You think being in a love triangle would be lots of fun. One partner not giving you enough angst? Maybe you wish fate would bring a second “special someone” into your life so you can have double the love AND double the problems! After all, it’s so romantic in the books, and you have your emotional support network standing by on Facebook. What’s the worst that could happen? If you’re constantly wishing to have two sexy suitors fighting over your affections… you might be a YA fan.

#3: You equate real relationship problems with YA relationship problems. If you’ve ever had a friend who’s come to you complaining about her relationship, and your first instinct is to ask her if her partner is a shapeshifter or harbors some dark secret that could put the world in danger and she can only save humanity with the power of love… you might be a YA fan.

#2: You blame your children for your obscene collection of Young Adult literature. If your collection of YA novels is so excessive that company begins to question why you have so many books for “young adults,” that you feel the need to blame the collection on your poor, innocent children who barely know how to read… you might be a YA fan. ADDENDUM: If you don’t have children, and you create imaginary ones that you say you’re “holding” onto the books for… you might also be a YA fan.

#1: You think you know better than Hollywood casting directors who should be in the movie version of your favorite YA novel. If you’ve already planned out your dream cast for your favorite YA novel, and the people adapting it into a movie don’t cast the exact people you’ve chosen for the role, so you go into Berserker mode and kill a box full of newborn kittens and post the video of you doing it to YouTube in a form of protest against the unfairness of society… you might be a YA fan. ADDENDUM: If you spend months raging about poor casting then end up seeing the movie version enough times where you actually can’t picture anyone else playing the role other than the actor Hollywood ended up casting, and you religiously defend said actor to your dying breath on the interwebz… you might be a YA fan.

If you display any of these tell-tale signs that you love YA literature – don’t sweat it! Enjoy yourself until they come and take you away to that cozy padded room at the mental health facility where you’ll have plenty of time to catch up on your reading. And while you’re there, check out my Young Adult series, Earthman Jack! It’s got everything YA fans love, and it’s fun for the whole family. Check out the first book in the series, Earthman Jack vs. The Ghost Planet. If being a YA superfan is wrong… then maybe you don’t want to be right!
