The Clan of the Wolf - A Historical Romance Series by Karen Kay

The
Princess and the Wolf
The
Clan of the Wolf Book 1
by
Karen Kay

Genre:
Historical Romance

TWO
HEARTS BETRAYED

Refusing
to believe the rumors that the European prince she was forced to
marry had died in a far-off land, the princess, Sierra, sets sail to
America, bent on revenge and determined to learn the truth. Because
she will require a scout to guide her through the wilderness, she
calls in a favor from the man who had betrayed her long ago, the man
she had once loved deeply and had hoped to wed, the noble Cheyenne
scout, High Wolf.

Many
years before, a European prince had invited High Wolf to travel an
ocean and as a brother, to live as a member of the royal family.
There High Wolf had fallen in love with the princess, Sierra. But
instead of an engagement and the planned wedding, the princess had
treacherously married his friend, the prince. Betrayed and
broken-hearted, High Wolf sailed back to America, determined to
forget the princess. But a promise given to her years earlier brings
her back into his life, igniting a desire he must resist, for to
surrender to her again is unthinkable.

Forced
into one another’s company, with the threat of life or death around
every corner, overcoming their prejudice might be their only means of
survival. But can either of them trust in a love, once betrayed? Or
will their past force them apart again, this time forever?...

This
book has been previously published.

Warning:
A sensuous romance that might fan the flames of desire. Be warned.
You might fall in love all over again.

Brave
Wolf and the Lady
The
Clan of the Wolf Book 2

He
saved her life, then stole her heart….

To
escape an arranged marriage, Mia Carlson, daughter of a U.S. senator,
instead elopes with the man she loves. As they are escaping from her
Virginia home, heading west, their wagon train is brutally attacked,
leaving Mia alone and in grave danger. Rescue comes from a most
unlikely source, a passing Lakota scouting party, led by the darkly
handsome Indian, Brave Wolf.
Although
Brave Wolf has consented to guide Mia to the nearest trading post, he
holds himself apart from her, for his commitments lie elsewhere. But
long days on the trail lead to a deep connection with the red-haired
beauty. Yet, he can’t stop wondering why death and danger stalk
this beautiful woman, forcing him to rescue her time and again. Who
is doing this, and why?
One
thing is clear, however: Amid the flurry of dodging assassin bullets,
Brave Wolf and Mia come into possession of a powerful love. But is it
all for naught? Will Brave Wolf’s obligations and Mia’s secret
enemy from the past finally succeed in the sinister plot to destroy
their love forever?

The Duke I Tempted - Secrets of Charlotte Street: Book One by Scarlett Peckham

He’s controlled. Meticulous. Immaculate. No one would expect the proper Duke of Westmead to be a member of London’s most illicit secret club. Least of all: his future wife. A marriage to a duke has never been such fun in THE DUKE I TEMPTED by Scarlett Peckham

About THE DUKE I TEMPTED

Having overcome financial ruin and redeemed his family name to become the most legendary investor in London, the Duke of Westmead needs to secure his holdings by producing an heir. Which means he must find a wife who won’t discover his secret craving to spend his nights on his knees—or make demands on his long scarred-over heart.

Poppy Cavendish is not that type of woman. An ambitious self-taught botanist designing the garden ballroom in which Westmead plans to woo a bride, Poppy has struggled against convention all her life to secure her hard-won independence. She wants the capital to expand her exotic nursery business—not a husband.

But there is something so compelling about Westmead, with his starchy bearing and impossibly kind eyes—that when an accidental scandal makes marriage to the duke the only means to save her nursery, Poppy worries she wants more than the title he is offering. The arrangement is meant to be just business. A greenhouse for an heir. But Poppy yearns to unravel her husband’s secrets—and to tempt the duke to risk his heart.

Read and exclusive excerpt from THE DUKE I TEMPTED:

Poppy sat at a round table in the corner, surrounded by piles of drawings. She still wore her gardening clothes, and her eyes were heavy lidded. She looked intense and flushed and disheveled.
Beautiful.
No. He must stop doing that. Must chasten his reactions to her.
Hardworking. She looked tired from her labors.
He cleared his throat. “Poppy. You’re still awake.”
She looked up at him with a guilty expression. “Your Grace. Yes. And it seems I have invaded your study — I’m so sorry. The others were playing whist in the library and I thought to finish my work in the quiet. I’m just finishing — I’ll leave you.”
“Never mind. Stay. Please. Show me what it is you’re sketching.”
She hesitated. He felt her eyes linger on his face, like she was trying to discern something about him. No doubt, her downcast expression had something to do with his invasion of her bedchamber the previous evening. He needed to address that. No woman who’d been raised in Grove Vale would be ignorant of the stories about his father. He could not have her think that he expected similar liberties of her. He had taken far too many as it was.
“Poppy, last night — I hope I didn’t alarm you. I apologize for intruding. I would not normally disturb a lady’s privacy, and I hope I gave no offense. I was concerned. You seemed quite distressed.”
Her face flickered. “It was only a nightmare,” she said finally. “I shan’t disturb you again.”
“I was not disturbed,” he said quickly.
She smiled. “When I awoke this morning I wondered if I had dreamt you.”
“No,” he said, drinking in her languid eyes.
She reached up and touched his face above his cheekbone. “No,” she agreed. “Here you are. Real indeed.”
Damn him, but he caught her hand and dragged it down to his lips and placed a kiss inside her palm.
Her mouth parted. Perhaps in shock. Perhaps in something closer to the feeling surging behind his sternum, overriding his judgment, his propriety, his will to be the kind of person he had spent a decade refashioning himself into.
“Forgive me. I am not myself tonight,” he forced himself to say, releasing her. He looked into her green eyes and told her the truth of it: “You should leave me.”
He meant it.
And yet.
And yet.
He hoped she wouldn’t listen.
               Author Bio:

Scarlett Peckham fell in love with romance novels as a child, sneaking paperbacks from the stash in her grandmother's closet. By the time she came of age she had exhausted her library's supply and begun to dream of writing one of her own.

Scarlett studied English at Columbia University and built a career in communications, but in her free hours always returned to her earliest obsession: those delicious, big-hearted books you devour in the dark and can never bear to put down. Her steamy historical romances about alpha heroines have been finalists for the Golden Heart® Award four times. Her debut book, THE DUKE I TEMPTED, will be out July 31, 2018.

The Enigma of a Widow - Widows of Aristocracy: Book 2 - A Regency Historical Romance by Linda Rae Sande

The
Enigma of a Widow
The
Widows of Aristocracy Book 2
by
Linda Rae Sande

Genre:
Historical Regency Romance

Having
lost her husband in the Battle of Ligny, Lady Lydia Barrymore is
determined to resume her work for the Foreign Office when her
mourning period is over. She's spent a year solving puzzles and
assembling dissected maps to maintain her skills. Her first
assignment has her perplexed, though - do what she must to help a
fellow operative recover his sanity. Although she finds the man
rather beautiful, Sir Donald has also proved most annoying.
Newly
knighted Adonis Truscott returned from the Continent with a tendency
to get lost in his thoughts. His frequent episodes of staring into
space have his sister claiming he's a candidate for Bedlam - and he's
not about to argue. He doesn't always remember where or when he was
when he recovers, but he remembers he made a promise, and he's
determined to keep it. A promise to provide protection for Lydia,
whether she wants it or not.
When
a puzzle's directions require Lydia to solve it with the help of
Adonis, she discovers the man harbors secrets that may be impossible
to reveal. With her own sanity in jeopardy - a year-long mystery
involving her late husband may be more annoying and dangerous than an
errant knight - Lydia will have to piece together a solution that
suits them both in The Enigma of a Widow.

Excerpt:

The thought of viewing artwork created more than a millennia ago excited Lydia. That someone had the skills to cut and carve marble into such detailed works of art meant the ancestors of humanity weren’t the barbaric creatures she had been warned of whilst still in the schoolroom in Merriweather Manor.
For every Spartan, there had been an Athenian, after all.
Viewing statues of mostly naked men would have been nearly impossible if there were too many others with her in the Gallery. On a day such as this, she had the room to herself.
She didn’t exactly study the statues, but surreptitiously surveyed them as she slowly walked around each one. She found them intriguing. Men nowadays weren’t so very different from those of two- or three-thousand years ago, she decided, although she only had experience with the two from current times. Perhaps the Greeks were more beautiful. Youthful, mayhap. Or perhaps they only depicted younger subjects because it was difficult to carve wrinkles into marble.
The reclining man before her was definitely youthful, his body barely muscled, his face relaxed as if he were sleeping. She could almost feel his soft breaths as he lay there, one arm raised above his head and angled so its hand was atop his curly hair whilst the other was bent with its hand resting beneath his chin. He wasn’t entirely naked but wore a cape tossed over one shoulder, and the folds of a skirt were strewn about his mid-section. His feet sported sandals with leather ties wrapped about his thick ankles.
Awareness of another’s presence in the gallery had the hairs on the back of her neck reacting.
The sensation of a soft breath wafted over her shoulder again, this time bearing the slightest hint of sandalwood and spice cologne. Stiffening where she stood, Lydia realized someone was standing directly behind and to her left. A man, no doubt, given the scent of his cologne. She was about to put voice to a complaint, but he put voice to a most audacious claim before she had a chance.
“I’ve been told I look exactly like him,” the male voice whispered, almost in her ear.
Lydia carefully stepped to the right and turned slightly, amazed to see that, yes, the intruder did indeed look exactly like Adonis. Or Endymion sleeping on Mount Latmos, if one remembered the label mounted next to the block of marble. He was also impeccably dressed in a superfine navy topcoat, an elaborately embroidered waistcoat in red and gold, and buckskin breeches that, at the moment, left absolutely nothing to the imagination as far as his muscular thighs and the bit of anatomy that was located just above them. A quick glance at his tasseled boots, and Lydia was sure she could see her reflection. One of his gloved hands was pressed onto the top of a cane handle decorated in ornately-patterned silver plate while the other held what appeared to be a sketchpad.
“You do, in fact,” she murmured, her gaze darting back and forth between the statue and his living twin. “Are you related, perhaps?” she asked with an arched eyebrow.
“My mother must have thought so. She named me Adonis,” he replied with an equally arched eyebrow.

AddictArium - The War Stories Chronicles - A Memoir by Nicole D'Settemi

ADDICTarium
The
War Stories Chronicles 1
by
Nicole D'Settemi

Genre:
Memoir

Drugs.
Sex. Detox. Art. Recovery. Prostitution. Music. Street life. Poetry.
Toxic love. And, those are just on the surface. The layers and
complexities of Addictarium will shock and enthrall you...

When
wild-child, and south Florida escapee, Danielle Martino finds herself
curled in a ball on the cold tile floors of her filthy rank bathroom
in the tiny studio she rents with her fiancé and partner-in-crime,
she knows it's time to quit abusing heroin. Severely impaired from
shooting a bad batch of black tar heroin, and already partially blind
from the infection that the muddy poison has caused, she is forced to
hitch a greyhound bus to New York City, and to abandon her care-free,
American-bohemian, drug infested life-style.
Hailed
everywhere as a beautiful, unique, honest, raw and poetic account of
recovery, Addictarium takes readers on a compelling journey through
the life and eyes of the narrator; a creative, nomadic, deep--but,
incidentally broken--young woman, and underlines the contributing
factors to what it's really like to suffer from addiction. With
magnificent candor--and sometimes emotionally crippling
descriptions--we witness Danielle's fight towards recovery from more
than just heroin, as Addictarium brings the readers on a fascinating
and harrowing, brutal tale of a young women's recovery from total and
mass self-destruction.
--Addictarium
highlights in the starkest of lights, why it is so difficult for
addicts to receive the recovery they seek, when they finally do
decide to put the drug down.

Author
Nicole D'Settēmi is
a 33 year old writer, currently living in upstate New York. She has
lived in five regions nationally, including South Florida and New
York City. She has always been a self-described "poetic,
nomadic, creative soul," and is an enthusiast of a variety of
artistic mediums, but considers writing her number one form of art,
and feels everything else is just an extension of that passion and
creative outlet.
Nicole
was raised in Niagara Falls, a tiny town bordering Canada, and can
remember being as young as six, when writing her first lyrical, and
philosophical poems. She specifically pin-points two pieces during
those years, titled "If I Ruled the World," and "If
the World Ended.” She also points out being selected at 6, for the
"Young Authors Club," which was a city-wide project.
Nicole
won two city-wide essay contests between the ages 9-11, which was
when she received her first typewriter and then she started a
fan-club and newsletter for her childhood hero, as well as penning
letters to over 30 pen-pals internationally. She also had a poem
named "And So It Begins" published which was written at 12.
Though
Nicole (who was an honor student) rebelled by 15, and was
incidentally expelled from school, she still wrote habitually. She
once showed her “alternative-school” teacher a poem titled:
"That's Life," which she penned at 14. He was so impressed
with the piece; he had it faxed to every school in the city.
At
16 Nicole was uprooted from her small town and moved to Boca Raton,
where she felt displaced and started to deal with depression.
Hereditarily, mental illness and substance abuse ran rapid in her
family tree, and by 20 she experimented with a plethora of chemical
substances. By 23, she became addicted to shooting heroin, and was
engaged to her co-conspirator and partner-in-crime. She attended an
art school for photo journalism, but withdrew half-way through the
year, due to a devastating addiction to injecting various drugs.
Addictarium
was written while she spent two years in a therapeutic community for
seriously addicted, and mentally ill, patrons. The author outlines
her experiences, including the tale of losing her eyesight due to
shooting a poisoned bag of heroin, which is when she was forced to
hitch a greyhound bus from South Florida to Manhattan, and after
several weeks of surgeries, was admitted to Daytop Village for
long-term treatment, and drug addiction recovery. The book outlines
many of the experiences she went through in the second phase of
treatment, which she dubbed "the village," because of its
extreme and eccentric melting pot of personalities.
During
her tenure at Daytop, Nicole separated with her fiancé, and while in
her stay at the recovery program in Queens New York, met her current
fiancé, who was initially her substance abuse counselor. The book is
also highly reflective of their relationship and its roots.
Nicole credits the Latin, Brooklyn-bred counselor, 18 years her
senior, with "saving her from herself.”
Nicole can now be found
residing in the Poughkeepsie area with her fiancé, Miguel. They are
both artists, and run a modest side business creatively assisting
those in need of artistic direction digitally. Nicole is currently
planning to eventually pen a prequel to Addictarium. She is also
outlining a third individual novel, Narssitopia, which she
claims will be a "psycho-dramatic thriller."
