Teatime and Books Review

A Huge, Dynamite 5 Full Teacups for Stray Moon by Kelly Meding! I absolutely loved this book and not only was this a new author to me but also a new genre. The plot was so thick with intrigue and mystery, and Shiloh is truly an amazing heroine, she’s strong, independent and a dynamic fighter, vampires, werewolves, no problem, she can take em on!! I feel a lot of women will be able to relate to her!

Meding’s writing is impeccable, she writes a plot so thick and deep and twists that just come out of nowhere, she just keeps you turning the pages! Also, her character’s are so well-developed and each with such striking personalities. Truly a remarkable storyteller! I highly recommend Stray Moon, you will not be displeased!

About the Book:
Para-Marshal Shiloh Harrison has always been a great number two for the East Coast unit. But after her boss is found dead (having betrayed the paranormals he was sworn to protect), she’s suddenly thrust into a leadership role she isn’t prepared for. And it doesn’t help that she traded away memories of one of her most important team members to save another’s life during her last mission.

Too, she’s in charge of a unit that is mired in bureaucratic red tape, meaning she’s essentially under house arrest. But a West Coast Para-Marshal has astral-projected a warning: werewolves are going missing, and she needs Shiloh’s help. Last time it was vampires. This time it’s werewolves. Half-djinn herself, she knows she can’t just sit around and do nothing while paranormals are getting snatched. Her old boss may have broken his oath, but Shiloh will do anything to serve and protect.

Excerpt:

The HQ landline rang before Mom could conjure up a proper retort. Novak didn’t look at the phone, and it still felt weird to let Jaxon answer it—if he even tried, from wherever in the house he’d gone—so I grabbed the kitchen handset.

“House of horrors,” I said.

A deep, vaguely melodic chuckle filtered over the line. “Are things truly that bad, young djinn?”

“Tennyson?” A flash of genuine happiness hit me hard. Mom’s eyebrows rose high on her forehead.

“It does me well to hear your voice, Shiloh. You sound strong.”

“I am. I think. I mean, I’m exhausted and could probably sleep for eighteen hours straight, but I’m not dead, so that’s a plus.”

“And your blood lust?”

“I’m still craving a rare steak dinner, but I don’t think I’ll start drooling if I nick myself shaving my legs.” I hope. “Hey, how did you get a phone? Did the authorities release you?”

“Not yet. I don’t believe they’re entirely certain what to do with me. No human prison will hold me, if I choose not to be held.”

I groaned. “Did you gazelock someone into letting you call me?”

“Perhaps.”

“You broke the law so you could chit chat with me?”

“Yes. You’ve become important to me, and I needed to know for myself that you were well.”

For some reason, that made my heart turn over a little bit. Dad would be horrified that I had any kind of positive feelings for a vampire, but whatever. Tennyson had saved my life twice since I’d met him. He was calling to check up on me. He was officially a friend.

“I’m as well as I can be, I guess, considering the memory loss thing, and the being suspended from work thing. The whole my boss was a criminal thing.”

“You’ve had a busy week.”

Sweet Iblis, I think he cracked a joke for the second time ever. “The week isn’t slowing down, either. We still have missing werewolves to find.”

“While you’re suspended?”

“It’s off the books.” And I didn’t need to share anything else about that. The fewer people involved the better—even if I kind of wanted Tennyson along for the investigation. He was over five hundred years old, crazy smart, and good in a fight.
“Be careful, Shiloh. From what I’ve heard, there are greater powers at work here than just your US Marshal’s office. Shadow agencies with hidden agendas.

Powerful people with vast resources.”

“Aw, you’re worried. That’s sweet.”

He grunted. “We have shared blood. While you are not one of my children, we are now connected, and we always shall be. I cannot sense you the way I could when the sharing was fresh, but if you need me, I will come.”

About the Author:
Born and raised in Southern Delaware, Kelly Meding survived five years in the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia, only to retreat back to the peace and sanity of the Eastern Shore. An avid reader and film buff, she discovered Freddy Krueger at a very young age and has since had a lifelong obsession with horror, science fiction, and fantasy, on which she blames her interest in vampires, psychic powers, superheroes, and all things paranormal.

Three Days to Dead, the first book in her Dreg City urban fantasy series, follows Evangeline Stone, a paranormal hunter who is resurrected into the body of a stranger and has only three days to solve her own murder and stop a war between the city's goblins and vampires. Additional books in the series, As Lie the Dead, Another Kind of Dead, and Wrong Side of Dead, are available in both digital format and mass market paperback from Bantam. Books five and six, Requiem for the Dead and The Night Before Dead, are published in digital and paperback by Smedge Press.

Beginning with Trance, Kelly's MetaWars series tells the story of the grown-up children of the world's slaughtered superheroes who receive their superpowers back after a mysterious fifteen-year absence, and who now face not only a fearful public, but also a vengeful villain who wants all of them dead. Trance and Changeling are available now in both digital format and mass market paperback from Pocket Books. Tempest and Chimera are available in digital format only via Pocket Star. All four books can also be purchased as a digital bundle.

Writing as Kelly Meade, her paranormal romance trilogy with Berkley Intermix features three shifter brothers and the women they come to love, starting with Black Rook, and continuing with Gray Bishop and White Knight.
