I stretched out my thigh muscles, gripping one
ankle at a time and holding it up behind my buttocks while throwing back the
rest of the drink. After rinsing out my glass, I left it in the sink to dry and
turned my focus back to stretching. I bent over at the waist, with a firm grasp
on my ankles and stretched out my legs. The intensity of the burn that traveled
from my calves up behind my knees deep into my thighs was concentrated and
intense.
“Sweet Jesus . . . now that’s what I call an
office with a view.” There was no sarcasm in his tone. No, it was pure,
unfiltered pleasure.
“Shit,” I gasped, shooting upright in a
nanosecond upon hearing Cameron’s voice as embarrassment pulsed throughout my
veins, much like a wicked shot of adrenaline.
I reached for the counter, the tips of my
fingers trying to grip it firmly yet failing miserably like nails on a
chalkboard. I closed my eyes, wishing this wasn’t happening right now.
What the fuck, Serena?
I took a few deep inhalations, squared my
shoulders back, and rolled my head around in a circle formation, the sounds of
cracking filling my ears; my lungs let out a sigh as I turned to face him. No
sooner did I turn around was the wind knocked out of my sails. My skin prickled
with heat, and my mouth went dry as I drank in his mouth-wateringly, handsome
appearance. From the perfect amount of stubble creeping up over his chiseled
jawline to his dark hair spiked just right, every inch of him appeared
impeccably flawless. I chewed nervously on my bottom lip, watching as he closed
the door to my office.
“Your secretary let me in.”
“Did she now?” I raised an eyebrow. “I suppose
I’ll be having a little word with her later. She knows better than to let just
anybody haphazardly walk into my office without speaking to me first.”
My chest fell in a sigh as my traitorous body
betrayed all my instincts and ignited in his presence. I wasn’t sure if I was
more annoyed that he’d caught me looking like a hot sweaty mess, literally, or
that I was turned on by the fire of desire pooling in his gorgeous eyes as they
greedily swept up and down my body like a starving man at a buffet.
“Are you saying you’d like me to leave?” His
body tensed a smidge, but the sexual tension radiating between us was
undeniable and off the charts.
My first instinct was to say yes. Instead, I
was too busy cursing myself while a war of words raged through my mind like
rapid-fire, caught in the middle of a battle zone between unadulterated lust,
and courage to step outside of my comfort zone.
