My name is Cara Wynter, and I am lost in the past as Andi’s spell continues. The golden room where I died was far beneath me, even the goddess who had killed me seemed to fade away. For a little while I floated, free of the world and all its strange pain. It was difficult to stay alert to Draken’s present because time now moved quite differently for me. It was the raindrops falling through my opaque body that snapped me back to whatever fresh reality imprisoned me. Pluto nickered at the space in the air that held a shimmer of me. I lifted my hand and little white wisps of air followed it. I meant to stroke his glossy nose, but it was useless—my hand passed through the horse like I was made of water and light. If souls could sigh, mine did.
