Worlds collide for both young and mature readers, who will love the fast-paced thrills, chemistry between characters, and interplay of witchy fantasy, mythology, Celtic folklore, and reality in The Wise One—book one of The Scottish Scrolls series.

Mckenna's never thought much of her nightmares, but on her seventeenth birthday, a vivid dream of burning at the stake awakens her dormant abilities, thrusting her into a world where faeries are real, spirits hold a grudge, and a High Priestess obsessed with a 16th-century prophecy is tracking her every move.

Now, her overprotective dads, Seán and Andre, are forced to tell her the truth—they know who her birth mother is, and her life is not the surrogate story she's always been told. Abigail, Mckenna's mom, is some sort of mystic, and Mckenna a Wise One.

Whatever the hell that means.

With the help of a persistent little wren and company of a newfound friend, Mckenna journeys to Ireland in search of her mother and real answers. Along the way, she learns to harness her innate magic and trust her intuition, as best she can anyway—Cillian, a kind and passionate delegate who crosses her path, is proving much harder to read.

Only her mother could truly help her halt her ill fate and prepare her for what's to come . . . before she gives in to the darkness she knows is buried deep within.

Author K.T. Anglehart expertly weaves a story set in Ireland that is both timeless and unique, a perfect cross-market read for those searching for the next endearing urban fantasy classic.

Excerpt from Chapter 6—Signs and Faith

Mckenna and Nissa hopped off the bus and found themselves in a wide square paved with red stone and packed with people coming and going. In front of them, dozens of enormous steps led to an odd, Lego-looking building, behind which stood a cluster of much taller buildings. Boston’s business district.

“That better not be the McCormack building,” the elderly man, John, said to his wife loudly. “There’s no way I’m climbing all those—unless you want me to take a hopper.”

“It says Boston City Hall on the front, don’t you see?” His wife pointed at the front entrance, and pulled out a map large enough for both her and John to sit on. “We’ve got to go . . .” she began, squinting at the small street names.

Nissa mouthed “aw” to Mckenna, and stepped forward.

“Excuse me, ma’am, can we help?” “You from here, luv?” “Well, no, but I can help you read the map if you’d like.” “Please do!” John cut in. “Me wife is as blind as a bat.” She pinned him with a glare that suggested she would blind him if he didn’t bite his tongue, then turned back to Nissa. “We’re trying to get to the McCormack building, luv.”

Mckenna glanced over Nissa’s shoulder and studied the map, recognizing a few of the main streets. “Well that’s Congress Street . . .” she began, following the streets with her finger, “so you just need to cross, and then take Cornhill down, and then cross Court Street to Tremont, and—”

“For feck’s sake, we’ll get there tomorrow,” John said, throwing his arms in the air and releasing his hold on his and his wife’s wheeled carryon baggage, making each fall forward on the ground with a thud.

“Oh, don’t worry, mister, it’s not very far,” Nissa said kindly. “We can walk with you, can’t we?” she added, awaiting Mckenna’s nod of approval.

“Actually, we should really get goi—” she started to say, but stopped mid-word, gawking at the small, brown bird that was now perched on John’s shoulder.

Impossible.
