Audiobook Tour Grand Finale ~ The Gate to Eden by Cathy McDavid

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

Audiobook Tour Grand Finale for
The Gate to Eden
By Cathy McDavid

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you'll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch - Note from the Author

...I thought for this launch post I’d tell you about why THE GATE TO EDEN is such a favorite of mine. To start with, it’s a historical western, a genre I loved writing but, unfortunately, has a limited market. Come on now, aren’t cowboys one of the best romance book heroes? I agree, which is probably why I started preening contemporary westerns, a genre I also love ūüôā. THE GATE TO EDEN print book was also an Amazon top 100 bestseller with an average 4.3 star rating and has won several awards. Lastly, I wrote the book during a difficult time in my life, and it became a testament to my courage during adversity.

I hope you’ll come along with me on this blog tour. I’ll be sharing not only excerpts from the book but also some the interesting and fun process of turning a print book into an audiobook.

— Cathy

Becky on Books - Review

"Ms. McDavid, a new-to-me author, did a great job of ratcheting up the tension and conflict in this story. Maddie and Scott are both very sympathetic characters, and though they have some solid chemistry, it’s hard to imagine for much of the book that they could really end up together in the end. . . . Fortunately Ms. McDavid succeeded, giving us an ending that put a smile on my face.

I enjoyed the narrator–he had a great voice that really helped to transport the reader to the old west setting."

Wearing only his long underwear, he walked to the door of his sleeping quarters and knocked. “Are you all right, my dear?”

His only answer was a soft scuffling sound.

“Hello.” He knocked again, and the brass knob twisted. Thaddeus smiled and moved away from the opening door. “There you are.”

“So, I am.”

The door swung wide, and the smile on Thaddeus’s face died as the end of a Colt revolver was jammed into his protruding gut.

Hallie Reads - Review

"Take a trip to the Old West with Cathy McDavid’s new audiobook The Gate to Eden. With a female Robin-Hood-like character falling for the man trying to put her behind bars, it’s a story full of drama, danger, and excitement. . . . The Gate to Eden is a fun story, and the audiobook is well done."

Beck Valley Books - Guest Post

The Long and Winding Road

I’m absolutely delighted to be here and talking about my western historical book, THE GATE TO EDEN. It’s one of my favorites for many reasons, so I thought I’d share the somewhat involved history of this book and how it eventually became my first audio book...

E-Romance News - Excerpt

He was disappointed not to see Maddie by the canned goods on his way out. When had she left? But then he spotted her standing by the door, dusting a display.

Once again, their gazes connected. Scott's reaction was more sudden than before and every bit as intense. Surprising himself, he paused and held out the paper sack. "Here. Take this home to your daughter."

Her chin lifted ever so slightly. "Thank you kindly, but I can't." She spoke with a hint of Southern accent.

"Please. It's only a rope of licorice."

"I know what it is."

Wishful Endings - Guest Post

From Print to Audiobook

Next to seeing one of my books turned into a movie, having an audio version was my biggest dream. Let me start out by saying I love, love, love my traditional publisher Harlequin and hope to remain with them until the very distant day that I choose to stop writing. But, being a realist, I know it’s unlikely one of my series books with them will ever become an audiobook. If my dream had a chance of becoming gaining wings, it would be up to me...

Scott didn't so much as blink, yet Maddie sensed his rising excitement. Her plan was working, and she nearly went limp with gratitude. Maybe he would even go so far as to travel to the Vista Linda Mine and check out this fictitious Rory O'Shea. That would buy the council several days in which to plan their next move.

But then, assuming he did visit the Vista Linda Mine, what would he do when the wild goose chase she'd sent him on didn't pan out? Would he return and confront her for lying to him? She could always claim a faulty memory, she supposed. Miners did come and go with regular frequency.

The Appeal of the Cowboy Hero

Cowboys have long been a popular hero for genre fiction. I’ve given workshops in the past on the appeal of the cowboy hero and would ask the participants to call out words that describe him. I always hears ones like: strong, capable, loyal, protective, resourceful, determined, moral, honorable, brave, trustworthy, and, of course, handsome...

"...they did have some good chemistry. The characters and their world were well built. I could envision it easily. This was an entertaining story. The narrator's style reminded me of William Shatner at times which added a bit of fun as well."

"I give The Gate of Eden a well deserved five stars. I recommend to readers who enjoy fun and romantic historical fiction. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future. "

Clara could not have made the invitation any clearer.

She didn’t know where such boldness came from within her. She had never forayed into intimacy like this. She didn’t know she had it in her. She supposed it had something to do with the way he made her feel . . . something to do with the fire in her blood.

He said her name again. “Clara.” In that husky brogue of his she felt herself melting, sliding deeper into a puddle of desire.

They hadn’t even kissed. Not a true romantic kiss. She did not count the chaste peck the morning of her wedding.

And heavens, she wanted him to kiss her.

She wanted his mouth on hers. She wanted to taste him with an ache that went bone-deep. Despite his gruffness, his mouth looked beautiful. There was a tenderness in the well-carved shape that she wanted to explore.

Book Review ~ The Duke of Distraction - The Untouchables by Darcy Burke

Huge, Dynamite 5 Teacups for The Duke of Distraction by Darcy Burke. Her Untouchables series just gets better and better, really some of the best storytelling of all time! I absolutely love this trope, a marriage of convenience! Felix Havers, the Earl of Ware never wants love or marriage in his life, but he allows himself to enter into a marriage of convenience with his best friends wallflower sister, Sarah Colton. Neither wants marriage or love, Sarah has her heart set on owning a millinery shop while Felix dreads love after seeing how his father and uncle fared in the game of love. However, neither of them can deny the growing attraction between them and soon their hearts speak louder than their needs. Will they be able to resist the call of love? or will the end up a true marriage of love and passion?

Darcy Burke never disappoints, her storytelling is just so magical and filled with passion. You will just fall in love with the characters and the world she creates! I highly recommend this book and the whole series!

It’s a devil of an inheritance, but in the grand ruins of the one building Derring left her, are the seeds of her liberation. And she vows never again to place herself at the mercy of a man.

But battle-hardened Captain Tristan Hardy is nothing if not merciless. When the charismatic naval hero tracks a notorious smuggler to a London boarding house known as the Rogue’s Palace, seducing the beautiful, blue-blooded proprietress to get his man seems like a small sacrifice.

They both believe love is a myth. But a desire beyond reason threatens to destroy the armor around their hearts. Now a shattering decision looms: Will Tristan betray his own code of honor…or choose a love that might be the truest thing he’s ever known?

EXCERPT
She’d taken two steps when he said, his voice raised only a little, “Lady Derring . . . something
puzzles me.”

She halted.

Closed her eyes.

Took a shuddering breath for courage.

Turned back to him. From the relatively safe distance of three feet, she said, “Surely not. We’ve established you know everything.”

His smile was small and patient. “You seem to excel at so very much here at The Grand Palace on the Thames. Yet you can’t seem to disguise how much you want me.”

Blog Tour & Review ~ It's Getting Scot In Here - The Wild Wicked Highlanders by Suzanne Enoch

IT’S GETTING SCOT IN HERE

by

 Suzanne Enoch

Author Bio:

A native and current resident of Southern California, Suzanne Enoch loves movies almost as much as she loves books, with a special place in her heart for anything Star Wars. She has written more than forty Regency novels and historical romances, which are regularly found on the New York Times bestseller list. When she is not busily working on her next book, Suzanne likes to contemplate interesting phenomena, like how the three guppies in her aquarium became 161 guppies in five months.

Some of Suzanne's books include Barefoot In The Dark, I'ts Getting Scot in Here, Lady Whistledown Stirkes Back and The Legend of Nimway Hall.

Suzanne Enoch Blogger Q&A

1)            For those that are reading your name for the first time today, what is the main thing you’d like them to know?
Hm. Well, I’ve written somewhere around 45 Regency-set Historical romances, so if they give a Suzanne Enoch book a try and enjoy it, they’ve got a lot of binge-reading they can do. Oh, and my books will be funny, heartwarming, and will DEFINITELY have a happy ever after ending.

2)            Does your everyday life influence your writing? What inspires you to write?
Mostly, having a deadline inspired me to write. No, not really – writing is something I’ve been doing since I was a kid, and I can’t really imagine myself ever NOT writing. My family has become accustomed to me spinning backstories for random people, for imagining dialogue between two cups of coffee, etc. My great grandfather was a published author, so maybe it’s something in my DNA.
And yes, my everyday life influences me. I have two nephews, and when I write kids I always refer back to when they were the age of my characters, the way they spoke and the things in life that interested them. And I’m shameless about using bits of my actual family conversations for characters, especially the way siblings speak to each other (I have two younger sisters, and we’re still very close.)

3)            Congratulations on your new book, It’s Getting Scot in Here. Please tell me a bit about it.
IT’S GETTING SCOT IN HERE is the first book in my Wild, Wicked Highlanders series. When an English lady with a great deal of money falls for a poor Scottish lord, they marry ten days later and he sweeps her off to the Highlands – where she finds a lot of sheep and no Society. She tolerates it for 12 years and three sons, but when she has a daughter she refuses to let baby Eloise be raised in such rough country. She and the baby leave for London when her husband won’t allow her to take her sons. Seventeen years later, Eloise is engaged, and Lady Aldriss plays her hand – she controls the purse strings, and unless her three sons marry before Eloise, and wed English women, she will cut off the entire Aldriss estate.
The three MacTaggert brothers reluctantly travel down to London, to discover that the oldest brother, Coll, Lord Glendarril, already has a lady chosen for him by their mother. Coll is not pleased, and at the first opportunity picks a fight with Amelia-Rose Baxter and then stomps off. It’s his youngest brother, Niall, who steps into keep Amelia-Rose from scandal, and then becomes Coll’s stand-in, escorting the lass about London. Niall slowly realizes he wants Amelia-Rose for himself, and that she feels the same about him. The problems – Amelia-Rose’s title-mad mother, the young lady’s own determination to live in London, Niall’s loyalty to his brother and concern for the funding of the Aldriss estate, all lead to big trouble and a nearly unsurmountable dilemma.

4)            Do you have a favourite quote from It’s Getting Scot in Here?
I do! It’s actually a short exchange between Niall and his sister Eloise:
“There you are, Niall,” Eloise said from the doorway behind him. “Mama asked – Oh!”
Niall looked from his sister’s startled face to Aden’s bare arse as his brother searched for clothes. Aden straightened, grinned at her, and went back to his task. With a sigh Niall stepped between them, heading for the door. “Ye’ve just allowed several arses to move into yer house, Eloise. I reckon ye’re bound to catch sight of one or more of ‘em from time to time.” Nudging her backward into the hallway, he shut the door behind him.

5)            I read on your website that you wrote romantic fantasy after graduating university. Would you ever return to writing romantic fantasy?
Oh, I would LOVE to write more romantic fantasy. It’s a matter of scheduling and mostly time, though. I still pull my two completed fantasy novels out from time to time and look at them, marveling at how much revising I would need to do now. They’re good plot-wise, but I’ve learned a great deal in 25 years of writing, and some of it makes me cringe. They’re a good reminder that the more you write, the better you get at it. Maybe some day everyone will get to read BLOODFEUD or THE THIEVES OF ALBANAAR (though those will NOT be their titles, for crying out loud).

Synopsis:
The first in a wickedly seductive new Scottish historical romance series from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Enoch!
“It’s time to fall in love with Suzanne Enoch.” — Lisa Kleypas

HAPPILY-EVER-AFTER
London socialite Amelia-Rose Baxter is nobody’s fool. Her parents may want her to catch a title, but she will never change who she is for the promise of marriage. Her husband will be a man who can appreciate her sharp mind as well as her body. A sophisticated man who loves life in London. A man who considers her his equal—and won’t try to tame her wild heart...

IN THE HIGHLANDS
Rough, rugged Highlander Niall MacTaggert and his brothers know the rules: the eldest must marry or lose the ancestral estate, period. But Niall’s eldest brother just isn’t interested in the lady his mother selected. Is it because Amelia-Rose is just too. . . Free-spirited? Yes. Brazen? Aye. Surely Niall can find a way to soften up the whip-smart lass and make her the perfect match for his brother for the sake of the family.

JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT HOTTER.
Instead it’s Niall who tempts Amelia-Rose, despite her reservations about barbarian Highlanders. Niall finds the lass nigh irresistible as well, but he won’t make the mistake his father did in marrying an Englishwoman who doesn’t like the Highlands. Does he have what it takes to win her heart? There is only one way to find out...

Absolutely love this tale! Nothing better than combining the glitz of London and the Ton with the rustic, majestic and beautiful Scottish Highlands! I felt the characterization was just magnificent in this tale, I just love Niall and his bold ways but also Amelia-Rose for her sassy side and gutsiness. They are just the perfect match! Truly a wonderful read, Suzanne Enoch, once again never disappoints!
