Inspirational Memoir
Publisher: Inspire-Books
Release Date: October 1, 2019
Hopey chronicles the story of a courageous girl in a '70s Southern Indiana commune, complete with flowers for dinner, a ball of acid in the freezer, and orgies on the living room floor. The chaos of her formative years, which are littered with violent episodes, periods of hunger and assaults, leads Hope to set off on her own at the age of fifteen.
Written as intense past moments, reflective chapters, and flash-forwards, these three voices come together to transcend time and connect the past and the present. Honest and raw, with no request for empathy or complaint, the book is a celebration of the human spirit and an exhilarating read. Hopey is a reminder that we can love, we can believe, and we, too, can be successful beyond all expectations—if we only dare to hope.
PREFACE
The material in this book is the truth, as I know it, as I saw it, and experienced it through my eyes. I
know now as a par-
ent that my perception of the truth is wildly different than my children’s. Therefore, I
recognize that the other people’s memories of the events described are
different than my
own. Everyone in this book is a lovely and decent human. The book was not intended to harm anyone, hurt anyone’s feelings, or portray them negatively. Everyone involved in the publication, marketing and support of this book all con-
firm there is no intention of harm, hurt or disparagement.
I have changed names, made tweaks to settings and
descriptions, to allow people to remain anonymous. There are two instances where I compressed time to support the
flow and telling of the story. To the best of my ability I
have remained honest to my perception of the truth.
Every childhood shapes a child. Mine was tumultuous, but here I am, standing strong and grateful. For that, I thank my mom, dad, husband, and all the people who
helped me along the way.
I am now an executive, wife, and mother. I am blessed beyond measure to have a true partner in this life. My hus- band and I are raising our children, driving our careers, and loving each other unconditionally. He has accepted me for who I am, who I was, and he knows me.
