Book Tour Grand Finale ~ Hall-O-Ween! by Tia Perkin

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Hall-O-Ween!
By Tia Perkin

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you'll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch - Author Interview

What was your motivation behind Hall-O-Ween!? Why did you want to write it?

“Hall-O-Ween!” was a follow-up to my other books, “Two!” and “Three!”, which were somewhat autobiographical accounts of life with my twin toddler boys. With those, I wanted to make something for my kiddos to read and hold onto, but they also were a way for me to commemorate their milestones (as crazy as those times were). For “Hall-O-Ween!”, I wanted to continue the series, but also weave in some of my memories and fantasies of Halloween as a kid. Halloween was always one of my favorite times growing up. My dad was always helping my brothers to decorate the front yard (in competition with one of the neighbors) and my mom would help us make our costumes. I wanted to bring all of that excitement to life in my book.

"The illustrations are bright, boldly coloured and illustrate everything the words and phrases are discussing. . . . The best bit to the whole story is how charmingly lovely it begins and ends!"

"I enjoyed the story with a few spooky things, some treats, the costumes, everyone celebrating the holiday, and of course the ending was perfect. It reminded me of my Halloweens as a kid. Halloween was always a celebration at our house, much like the child in the story."

Bookworm Lisa - Guest Post

10 Children's Halloween Books to get you in the Howl-iday spirit!

I LOVE Halloween. From September 1st through November 1st, my house transforms into a sea of orange, dotted with tiny skeletons and black bat decals. Somewhere in one those first crisp mornings, I scour the many bookshelves in our house looking for orange-colored spines with well worn pages. In a reverent stack on the corner of our couch – the reading couch – I put all of the Halloween books I can find. . .

Splashes of Joy - Review

"Your young children will love this adorable book about Halloween by author Tia Perkins. In this book you will find rhymes on each page and then sounds that go with the rhyme."

Life Is What It's Called - Author Interview & Review

Life Is What It's Called - How is your Halloween book different than others on the market?

Tia Perkin - This book uses a lot of onomatopoeia to really take the reader through all of the sights, sounds and smells of Halloween. It's not so much of a traditional plot line with a beginning, middle and end as it is a day-in-the-life of a little boy as he gets ready for Halloween. It's about reinforcing traditions and getting kids excited for what's coming up.

"Hall-O-Ween was an instant hit with my kids (ages 1, 3, 5). We've read it several times over. . . . This is a great book to add to your Halloween picture book collection!"

"This is a fun Halloween tale about the sounds, smells, and movements of three young trick-or-treaters! Hall-O-Ween! is light and fun read for preschool and elementary school aged kids with light and loose rhymes and colorful, entertaining illustrations."

Colorimetry - Guest Post

10 Must-Do Halloween Traditions

I see myself as somewhat of a Halloween connoisseur. Over the years, I have collected Halloween traditions like my kids collect trick-or-treat candy. Here are my top ten Halloween musts. . .

"The book is filled with fun rhymes and beautiful illustrations. It's the perfect treat for your little ghoul!"

Wishful Endings - Guest Post

The Art of "Hall-O-Ween!"

When I started writing “Hall-O-Ween!”, it quickly became clear that a book revolving around a holiday where people eat a lot of candy ALSO needed a lot of *eye* candy, too. In my other books, “Two!” and “Three!”, the majority of the illustrations were done straight on the computer. Simple shapes and vibrant colors drove those books, but I wanted a little more for “Hall-O-Ween!”. I really wanted to stretch myself. . .

"What a lovely book for any child, parent, or teacher! This is such a delightful read about the wonders of Halloween! . . . Highly recommend!"

J. L. Mbewe - Review

"I enjoyed the story. The illustrations were cute and vibrant. I love the color choices. . . . my kids enjoyed it. Definitely one to read out loud."

"I am giving Hall-O-Ween! a well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this delightful little book for children. It is a great way to get the kids into spirit of Halloween."

"Hall-O-Ween is a very cute picture book to read with your kids at this time of the year! As with most picture books, it is the illustrations that tell the story and make the story fun. Hall-O-Ween‘s bold and bright illustrations jump off of the pages. Kids can relate to how excited the little boy is in this book."

EXCERPT:
I started at Kirk’s apartment since it was across the hall from mine. In spite of the proximity of our apartments, I rarely saw Kirk. He was a quiet man who usually just nodded to me and only became garrulous when talking about renovations to his apartment. I pulled the collar of my sweatshirt up over my face and knocked softly. After a few seconds, I knocked again, louder. I pressed my ear to the door, but all I heard was a vehicle racing down our street.
I walked down one flight and knocked on the door of apartment four, which was directly beneath mine. I often speculated about the resident, middle-aged Tom, who had an impressive handlebar mustache, and his mysterious movements. I only saw him once every other month or so, and a few times, he had been with younger women. He always wore a suit, so I imagined he was a traveling salesman. But I also thought he could be married and using the small apartment as his love nest. I knocked and listened. No answer. I wondered if he was away on a sales trip and had managed to avoid the whole debacle.
I walked the few feet to apartment five, where a gay couple lived. Out of everyone, I’d chatted with Terrence and Eric the most over the years, but I hadn’t seen either of them in at least a month because they had a condo in Florida where they spent most of the winter months. I knocked four separate times, waiting for an answer and hoping I wasn’t completely alone. But my knocks went unanswered.
I ran down to the second floor and knocked at apartment two, where a single woman named Barb lived. When there was no answer, I put my ear against the door. The low sounds of a TV resonated through the door. Barb coughed, and I jumped back quickly, my back hitting the door of apartment three. My heart was beating as quickly as a bird caged in my chest. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. Turning around, I knocked loudly on Kelly’s door, not expecting an answer. After my expectations proved correct, I went down to the solitary first-floor apartment, which belonged to Mr. Tablock. He was over eighty years old and had lived in the building for forty years. I’d seen his live-in Haitian nurse, Regine, in the hallway from time to time, taking out the trash. I used to ask her how he was doing, but her response was always the same: “He’s getting old, but he’s got spunk.” I stopped asking and just said hello. I pounded on the door, praying Regine and Mr. Tablock were still there and not sick. But all was quiet. Besides infected Barb, I was alone.

Release Blast ~ Sugar by Mila Hart

You’d think that working at a cafe I’d understand the definition of the word sweet, as it turned out, I did not.

At least, not until I got a taste of the man sweeter than the sugar mixed in your afternoon tea.

All it took was a wad of cash, a fancy dress, and thirty minutes of passion.
I, Peyton Sanders, am not—and never will be—a whore. I was stupid to agree to date some random dude from the Sugar Daddy app, even with the promise of ludicrous amounts of money.

But that dating app changed my life. After meeting my first client, my bitter mornings filled with caffeine and stale treats, were about to become a little sweeter…

EXCERPT:

I grinned like the Cheshire cat. My hips still moved as our breaths became more labored. Something stirred inside me, lighting a flame that had never burned. “Your pussy’s so fucking tight I can’t think straight.”

“You’re so thick.” The light in her eyes was animalistic and feral, and then she growled.

I couldn’t say for sure that it was the hitch in my grind or the patch of gravel we’d hit on the road, but whatever the fuck it was, this was the best feeling of my life. It was more than closing a multi-million-dollar deal or the pleasure I got from seeing profits triple in a quarter—Peyton had gotten inside me.

She lifted her hips fast. It was so sudden that it jarred me from my thoughts, and I slipped so deep inside of her that we became one, and the sudden rush of release overwhelmed me. Desperate for oxygen, I panted, allowing the precious air to enter my lungs, and with each gasp, euphoria washed over me. My face flamed with the burn of ecstasy.

“That was—”

“Surreal,” she finished.

I pulled out, and we used the tissues in the built-in dispenser between the seats to clean up. We were in the middle of tugging on our clothes when my pocket buzzed. I checked the text on my phone. My sister, Jessica, was blowing me up with alerts about our departure. I had five minutes left to get on the plane, and I currently still sat in the limo on the tarmac.

I cursed mentally as I buttoned the last few holes on my shirt. We had been at the airport—I didn’t know how long—and I had to sprint out of the vehicle to make my flight. I kissed Peyton’s cheek like she hadn’t just been the best lay of my life and flung open the door.

“Jake?” It was the last thing Peyton said as I dashed toward the waiting plane without so much as a goodbye.

I couldn’t slow down to tell her how amazing she was or how much I wanted to get to know her. I felt like shit leaving like I did, but if I missed this flight not only would my dad have my head but I’d likely be out of a job and my inheritance. Jessica waited at the bottom of the stairs onto the plane, holding our bags as she sent a glare my way, urging me to run faster.

“Hurry the hell up, Jake!” she shouted, and I sped up, making it last minute.

It was times like this that I wondered what the point was in having a private jet if we didn’t get to operate on our own schedule. When we finally got settled next to each other, I noticed the strange way my twin stared at me.

“What?” I asked, and she sneered.

“Why the hell do you smell like sex?”

I blushed, ignoring her question as I quickly turned my head toward the window, watching the ground as the plane began to take off.

My mind didn’t once stray from the young woman I met on the app and had just taken in my limo…

Title: Evanthia's Gift (The Gift Saga, #1)
Author: Effie Kammenou
Genre: Womens Fiction/ Contemporary Romance

Sophia Giannakos will settle for nothing less than the rare love her parents share. At a tender and impressionable age, she has found her soul mate in Dean, the boy she has known her whole life -- until secrets and deceptions pull them apart. No stranger to heartache, Anastacia, Sophia's mother, attempts to comfort her, without revealing ugly family truths that could haunt her daughter's future.
In the year 1956, Anastacia, a former NYU student, finds herself in the challenging role of a single parent. Left with emotional wounds from a bad marriage, she is reluctant to trust and resists her growing feelings for Alexandros, an old acquaintance. But his persistence and unconditional love for Ana and her child is eventually rewarded and his love is returned. In a misguided, but well-intentioned effort to protect the ones they love, both Ana and Alex keep secrets -- ones that could threaten the delicate balance of their family.
The story continues in the 1970's, as their daughter attempts to negotiate between two cultures. Greek-American teenagers, Sophia and Dean, have shared a special connection since childhood. Although their desire for one another is undeniable, Dean resists her, rebelling against the pressure his father places on him to uphold his Greek heritage. When he can no longer fight his feelings, Dean asks Sophia to conceal their love. She hesitantly complies, until it becomes too much for her. Like her mother, Sophia loves with every fiber of her soul, leaving her shattered when Dean pulls away from his family, culture and ultimately his love for her, leaving her no choice but to find a life different than the one she'd hoped for.
