Taein Kim, affectionately known as “Blondie”, is an incredibly talented young man and leader of the rookie K-Pop group Eclipse. Tae has his whole life and career in front of him, but it comes to a screeching halt when a standard meet and greet leads to him finding his soulmate, a foreign girl named after the goddess of love.
Venus Woods is the young heiress of the largest tech corporation in Southeastern America. Her life revolves around meaningless events and empty white walls, devoid of color and purpose. She never thought she would meet her favorite idol group, Eclipse, let alone form the incredibly rare soulmate bond with their leader. As if that’s not life-changing enough, her absent mother is determined to have the two married, using her daughter as a bargaining chip.
Separated by lifestyle, culture, and language, the teens have wall after wall between them. None of it stops the blossom of love that blooms in their hearts when they lock eyes under the cover of a thunderstorm.
Excerpt:
Maybe
we can come back for our anniversary.
My heart speeds up impossibly fast, just as a
colorful firework explodes in the sky.
Our anniversary.
Venus
and I are getting married in only a few days.
A brief moment of panic consumes me as the
realization hits home hard. Married. At eighteen. My throat starts to close up
until another firework explodes, small children shrieking in delight and
terror. The sudden burst of light illuminates Venus’s face, her eyes catching
on mine with slight concern. She squeezes my hand slightly, wordless comfort
exuding from her. All my anxiety flees instantly, replaced with the tight
feeling in my stomach, heart pounding so loudly I’m sure it’ll fall out of my
chest any second now.
Before I can even process my movements, I’m
pulling her body flush against mine, hands traveling up to cup her face gently.
Her eyes are wide, cheeks flushed, soft lips parted slightly.
“Tae,” Venus says with a voice that should be
too quiet to hear.
But I hear it anyway, her voice pushing me
over the edge I have been teetering on ever since I saw her in the thunderstorm
a month ago.
Another movement and her lips brush against
mine, eyes fluttering closed and hand sliding up the fabric of my shirt to hang
across my shoulders. Electricity shoots through my veins as I succumb to the
hold she has over me, kissing her like it’s the last moment we’ll ever spend
together. I pull away slowly, catching her lower lip slightly with my teeth,
breathing heavily.
Venus doesn’t move and I begin to doubt
myself, attempting to pull away before she tugs me back, kissing me once again
as the light bursts with vivid color, her skin warm in the heat of the night.
Nothing
has ever felt more right in my entire existence.
